Hidradenitis Suppurativa is a severe skin sore that is always misdiagnosed as skin boils. It affects the sweat glands present in the body. It resembles similar to boils or acne in appearance and is mainly caused in the areas around sweat glands or apocrine glands. It is prevalent in women as compared to males and is mostly found in the areas around armpits, groin, buttocks and breast. It is common in teenagers.
As far as the treatment for Hidradenitis Suppurativa is concerned, self care and maintenance of personal hygiene is vital. Washing the infected area with antibacterial soap is of prime importance. Moreover avoid wearing tight fitting garments and use cotton clothes to promote easy ventilation of the air in order to prevent sweating. It is important to avoid fingering the affected areas as it may spread the infection further.
